Photoshop renders it very odd, but Photoshop renders all text horribly so I'd count that out. Open Office renders it with wrong spacing, but the letters are not squashed like in Unity. Wordpad, Notepad, Word, every web browser all render Verdana the same (i.e the the second transition in my gif). And seeing as it's like this on both my computers I find it unlikely. On the other hand even huge developers like Adobe screw the Windows platform over with the unusable interface offered in Photoshop CS4 and CS5 so I guess this is a new trend.Ĭlick to expand.Don't think so. How could anyone let this go through testing? Did they make this change without testing on the actual target platform? Will we get more "features" like this on Windows in the future? The dark scheme uses the exact same font with the exact same spacing issues.Įven though I think this looks horrible my issue is mainly on how this ever came to be. It's just slightly hidden by the inversed colors. Thirdly, this is more than evident in the dark scheme as well. Also, if you need a microscope to spot the obvious faults of the font in the top row in my above example then what else are you missing? Perhaps you ship your games with muddy looking textures as well?

Secondly, I work with my eyes open and thus I spot problems like this without the need for a microscope. Also, the pixels per inch has been fairly constant for computer monitors for the last 10 years so I fail to see how 1024x768 resolution would have anything to do with it as I would clearly be on a much smaller monitor if I was using that resolution.

I see even quality posters like you fail to be helpful sometimes.įirstly, let me say my resolution is 2560x1600 on 30" both at home and at work and I have Windows 7 both at home and at work and the font looks like S*** both at home and at work.
